Description:Are you interested in understanding the world around you and how its functions play a role in everyday life? As a Physics student, you will be exposed to cutting-edge knowledge in a wide variety of subfields including condensed matter physics, lasers and optical physics, nanotechnology, materials science, medical imaging, and mathematical physics.

As a student, you will benefit from small class sizes ensuring individual attention, mentoring, and easy access to one-on-one discussions with faculty members. You will also have ample opportunity to enhance and complement your classroom experience through a research-oriented undergraduate thesis or summer research positions. We also provide a Co-op option that will allow you the opportunity to work in industries that specialize in physics-based technologies such as the semiconductor and communications industries, medical physics, or meteorology. You can also combine your Physics program with a Concurrent program in Education.

  • 2 of  Grade12 Biology  or  Grade12 Chemistry  or  Grade12 Physics  or  Grade12 Earth and Space Science 

Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent high school diploma; Gr. 12 U English, Gr. 12 U Advanced Functions; 2 credits from: Gr. 12 U Biology, Gr. 12 U Chemistry, Gr. 12 U Physics, Gr. 12 U Earth & Space Science, Gr. 12 U Calculus & Vectors, Gr. 12 U Math of Data Management; 2 additional Gr. 12 U or M credits. A minimum 70% overall final average is required for admission consideration

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 85] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]

Applicants whose first language is not English will need to satisfy Lakehead University’s English language proficiency requirements. Applicants can complete one of the following recognized language tests with the required minimum scores: TOEFL PBT-550, CBT-213, or iBT-80; IELTS-6.5; MELAB-85; CAEL-60.
