The Personal Support Worker Diploma Program is an intensive 26 week program recognized by the National Association of Career Colleges. The triOS Program combines instructor led training with a clinical work placement designed to prepare students for a career in health care.
Topics of this program include: Career Management; Medical Emergencies - CPR/First Aid; Individuality of the Person; Role of a PSW & Interpersonal Skills; Safety & Mobility; Abuse; Household Management and Meal Preparation; Optimal Support/Care Planning; Personal Hygiene; Assisting the Family & Assisting with Medications; Cognitive Impairment and Mental Health; Assisting to Manage Ongoing Conditions; Assisting the Person who is Dying; Clinical Practicum / Internship. |
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Mature Student Status (18 years of age and academic achievement assessment passed); able to pass a clear police check including a clear Vulnerable Sector check; a clear medical certificate indicating current immunization and free from communicable diseases; demonstrated fluency in English (oral and written); completion of a PSW Student Questionnaire and an admissions interview to determine suitability for a career as a Personal Support Worker.
