|Field of Study:||Biology/Biological Sciences, General
|Description:||We have structured our program to emphasize research and produce well-qualified professional life scientists. We offer opportunities for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) research at every level of focus from molecular processes to the ecosystem, using microbial, plant, and animal systems. Individuals often share research projects on certain themes. Common interests range from the molecular and cellular processes during development, to molecular, systemic, population, and community-level interactions of organisms with their environment. The role of environmental contaminants in ecosystem processes also represents a focal interest.
The Ph.D. degree is normally completed in three to five years (a two-year minimum applies if students already hold a recognized Master of Science degree).
