Description:

Paramedics are on the medical front line, helping people in distress and saving lives every day. They provide medical care in those critical first moments and transport them to the nearest hospital. Are you up for the challenge?




If so, Confederation College’s two-year Paramedic program will prepare you to work effectively as part of an emergency health team. You’ll learn emergency medical care in-class and in the field so you can care for patients safely and expertly. Topics include, patient care theory, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of patient care, communications for paramedics, physical education and ambulance operations. Become an integral part of the emergency medical care team!

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  •  Grade11 Mathematics 
Applicants are required to have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (U/C), or Open (O) preparation levels with Grade 12 English (C/U) Level; or successful completion of the Mature Student Assessment; or successful completion of the General Education Development Test (GED); or appropriate credits from the Academic and Career Entrance program (ACE). Applicants are also required to have Grade 11 Math (College or University Preparation) and Grade 11 or 12 Biology (College or University Preparation) and Grade 11 or 12 Chemistry (College or University Preparation), with a minimum final grade of 65% in each required course. If you are currently enrolled in the required course, you must have a midterm and final mark of 65% or higher to qualify for selection/admission.




If you do not possess the necessary admission requirements (or equivalency), we encourage you to consider our Pre-Health Sciences program which will provide the necessary preparation to apply to this program. Completion of the Pre-Health Sciences program does not guarantee admission to the Paramedic Program in a subsequent year.
