Description:

Music 10
Prerequisite: Instrumental or vocal experience required or permission of instructor.
Music 10 involves the development of the student's understanding and appreciation of music. The course includes units in computer composition, percussion instruments, secondary band instruments, and instrumental music.

Music 20
Prerequisite: Instrumental or vocal experience required or permission of instructor.

Music 20 includes applied instrumental/vocal study and performance, a music theory component, music history, improvisation plus composition, and ensemble performance.

Music 30
Prerequisite: Instrumental or vocal experience required or permission of instructor.

Music 30 includes a continuation of the areas studied in Music 20 with further opportunity for independent research and performance.

Performance Music Classes
NOTE: To be eligible for a Performance Class credit, attendance must be 90% or better.

Band 9 (Non-Semestered)
Prerequisite: Elementary Band experience or permission of instructor.

Evaluation is based on attendance, active participation, ability to play their band music, and attitude during rehearsals and concerts. Concert Band rehearses twice a week at lunch hour, with performances at various times throughout the year.

Band 10/20/30 (Non-Semestered)
Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor.
Students with reasonable proficiency on a band instrument will be considered.

Evaluation is based on attendance, active participation, ability to play their band music, and attitude during rehearsals and concerts. Concert Band rehearses twice a week at lunch hour, with performances at various times throughout the year.

Choral 9 (Non-Semestered)
Concert choir rehearses twice a week, on alternate days from band, with various singing engagements and performances throughout the year. Previous vocal experience is not necessary. Choir is open to both male and female singers.

Evaluation is based on attendance, active participation, knowledge of their vocal part, and attitude during rehearsals and performances.
