Description:Philosophy is the oldest field of rigorous study. As a student of philosophy, you will become highly skilled in the critical and reflective thought and analysis used in the examination of a wide range of problems. You will become adept at shifting between different ways of thinking or conceptual frameworks, and explore the theories produced by some of the great minds of the past, such as Aristotle and Kant. The Carleton program has a particular focus on ethics and political philosophy, language, knowledge and the mind, and the history of philosophy. Feminism and the philosophy of art are other areas of exploration. A formal Specialization in Philosophy, Ethics and Public Affairs is offered.
