Description:

A research program created by the Faculties of Engineering and Health Sciences to provide a unique collaborative environment that leverages McMaster's existing expertise in medical sciences and engineering, and links current and emerging areas of molecular, medical and bioengineering research.

    This option is only available to McMaster's students in the undergraduate 4 or 5-year Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Science (IBEHS) program. The accelerated option requires students to complete one of either IBEHS 4F04 (Biomedical Instrumentation and Measurement) or IBEHS 4QZ3 (Modelling of Biological Systems) with the additional 600 level evaluation components (i.e., either IBEHS 6F04 or IBEHS 6QZ3) by the end of their 4th or final year.

    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based)
    Application Notes : Applicants whose native language is not English will be required to submit an official copy of their TOEFL score, or other evidence of competency in English is required. A minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 92 (580 on the paper-based TOEFL test or 237 on the computer-based TOEFL test) is needed for the Faculty of Health Sciences. Students taking the IELTS are required to achieve a minimum score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 5.5 in each category. Students taking the MELAB are required to achieve a minimum score of 90. Equivalent scores on other recognized tests may also be considered. Each of these scores are only valid for 2 years. Students who have completed an Academic ESL program through Canadian academic institutions may petition to have this considered in lieu of TOEFL. Applicants may be exempted from this requirement if they have completed a university degree at which English is the language of instruction.

    Applicants are required to submit a statement of Interest (1-2 page document which indicates their interest in pursuing graduate studies with the School of Biomedical Engineering), a resume, and two confidential letters of recommendation from instructors most familiar with their academic work.
