School can be expensive. Scholarships are a great way to help fund your post-secondary pursuits. We’ve put together a few tips and tricks to make sure your applications are as successful as possible.

Research your opportunities. Scholarships and awards are available at different points in your education, not just when you’re applying. Don’t miss out!

  • Entrance scholarships: Available when you enter university
  • In-course scholarships: Awarded during your studies for a given program or course
  • Graduation awards: Presented when you graduate university
  • Alumni awards: Available after graduating and completing your program

Get in the race. Sometimes scholarships will go unclaimed because students don’t believe they’re eligible. Scholarships at KPU (and elsewhere) have a variety of criteria - they aren’t all focused on your academics. Many scholarships and awards are given for involvement in extracurriculars and volunteer activities. Make sure you apply for ones that you think are right for you; ones that suit your interests, hobbies, and goals.

Follow deadlines and requirements. It’s important to keep track of important dates and deadlines so you have to time to compile any documents you need (i.e. reference letters, transcripts, essay responses etc.).

KPU’s entrance scholarship and awards are now open online for students planning to enroll at KPU for the first time in fall (September) 2017 or spring (January) 2018. Only one online application needs to be submitted for you to be considered for both the KPU Major Entrance Scholarship and Donor-Funded Entrance Award programs. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
