There are many ways to ease stress and anxiety at UNBC!

Midterms have ended, assignments are due, and final exams are impending. This is a stressful time of year, but there are many ways to ease stress and anxiety at UNBC!

Counselling and General Health
UNBC Health Services exists to help students to manage illness and health concerns, remain informed, and maintain healthy lifestyles. It is normal to contract colds or flus during times of stress – let our registered nurses, nurse practitioners and staff help you get (and stay) healthy.

UNBC also has a Peer Support Network – a community of student volunteers trained to provide counselling support, and a Wellness Centre where licensed, professional counsellors provide accessible counselling services.

Academic Support
For your academic needs, UNBC has the Academic Success Centre (ASC) for writing support, tutors, and study skills help. We also offer the Mathematical Academic Centre for Excellence (MACE), where students can find help (from peers, and/or UNBC tutors and professors) in math-based courses.

Exam Jam and Stress Busters
Every semester, UNBC hosts Stress Busters and Exam Jam sessions. During these events, students: join in activities (crafts, puzzles, games, etc.), learn about “brain food,” challenge fellow students to wrestle in sumo suits or joust on inflatable arenas, may attend study sessions for specific classes or programs, and pet puppies (via the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program)!

Get Out
Just as important as studying is getting away from studying. Close the books, put down the pen, and leave academia behind for a while. At UNBC, we have the Northern Sport Centre for your fitness needs – run/walk the track, use the weight and cardio equipment, or take part in a class! Your UNBC student fees also grant access to Prince George’s swimming centres. There are also dozens of kilometers of hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails directly behind campus. Or you can take in one of the countless events offered every week in Prince George (art shows, poetry readings, stage plays, films, film festivals, or concerts).
