It is winter time in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada’s smallest province located on the east coast of the country. Situated in the capital city of Charlottetown, the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) offers students with opportunities they may never before have thought possible. When not studying, UPEI international students who do not experience winter in their home countries will have the opportunity to experience the highlights of the season for the first time. This includes cross country and downhill skiing, sledding, and ice skating. There are endless activities for everybody!

This month, UPEI is welcoming nearly 800 new and returning international students who have made UPEI their first choice for post-secondary education. On January 9, the University will be offering a full welcome day for new international and exchange students through the International Student Orientation; a great way for students to familiarize themselves with the campus, residence, and to meet faculty and staff.

A new year can mean new, exciting things and that is just what UPEI has accomplished. The University is excited to introduce its brand new Actuarial Science program! The program will offer students five majors: Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Financial Math, and Data Analytics. These new programs will prepare students for well-paid career options locally and globally in various industries including insurance, financial services, big data, scheduling, and supply chain management.

UPEI encourages its students to explore the province and all it has to offer at every time of the year. PEI is home to world-renowned beaches to go to in the summer and apple picking in the fall. Make it your School Year Resolution to try it all!
