Your heart is racing. You haven’t even taken a step and you’re already sweating. You feel your hands shaking. June – and the rest of your future – is just around the corner.

Pause. Take a deep breath.

As the final months of high school creep up, remember that you are running a marathon and not a sprint. There’s a lot of preparation that can be done to help you be successful and finish this long journey a winner.

Rest – Make sure you get enough sleep to have the energy to be your best self the next day. Sometimes those all-nighters are unavoidable, but try to get to bed at a decent hour every now and then. A good night’s sleep is especially important come exam time.

Wake-up early – Many people are most productive right when they wake up. Give it a try and squeeze in an early morning walk or workout. You’ll feel refreshed and energized for the day.

Fuel – Keep yourself refreshed by fuelling yourself with things that will keep you happy and healthy. Always eating out? Try a home cooked meal every now and then. Grabbing another pop? Drink water instead!

Warm-up – Much like doing stretches and getting the blood flowing for a marathon, you’ll want to warm up your mind by cracking open those books and reading your notes every now and then. The more you expose yourself to, the more your mind will retain. A little repetition never hurt anyone.

Focus – You’re almost there, you can see the finish line. Don’t get lazy now. Now is the time to kick things into high gear and take your studies seriously. End the school year with a bang.

Run – Finally, make the most of these final months – don’t forget to enjoy yourself! Take it all in as your high school experience winds to a close.
