In all of the students we, in the Student Recruitment and Advising Centre at UNBC, have known personally, or have met in passing, we have not encountered one who has regretted their International Exchange experience. In fact, we know more than a few who express disappointment that they did not go on exchange during their post-secondary education.

At the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), you have the opportunity to explore any one of 34 institutions across 18 different countries – including Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and China (with new schools and countries added every year. For a list of our International Partners, please visit: www.unbc.ca/international-education/international-partners)! These exchange opportunities are for students of all programs and any student may participate. In order to be eligible for an International Exchange Program, students must complete at least 30 academic credits (generally one year of post-secondary education), have a good student conduct record, and have a minimum CGPA of 2.67.

While you are on this exchange, you continue to pay your UNBC domestic student tuition, you may be eligible to receive credit that will work toward your degree, and you will meet people and experience things that will change your life! UNBC students may spend up to one academic year on an international exchange before returning home to complete their degree programs. While you are not able to go on exchange in your first year of university, it is a great time to start talking about your interest and making plans to travel! The more organized you are and the more conversations you’ve had with our Academic Advising and International Education Departments, the better and more seamless your transition will be.
