As a graduate from one of Canada’s top institutions, I can tell you firsthand that your campus life and extra-curricular activities are an integral part of your experience! For me, expanding my social network inside and outside the classroom was key to being successful after graduating!

Residences:

The first-year residence experience is an excellent way to expand your social network and gain a sense of independence! The residence experience surrounds you with people going through the same highs and lows and gives you a sense of community.

Food Options:

Dining halls/cafeterias/campus pubs/food courts on campus can be an important aspect of your post-secondary experience! Having a diverse selection and high-quality meals makes a big difference when you are eating on a meal plan.

Intramurals:

Intramurals expand your social network and keep you in shape! Most post-secondary institutions have a diverse listing of extra-curricular activities including: dance, yoga, basketball, flag football, inner-tube water polo, etc. Utilising the school’s athletic facilities and breaking a sweat gives you a productive break from your studies. Often faculties, residences, clubs and friend groups signup together for intramural sports!

Campus Events:

Particularly in first-year, campus events are a great way to join in on school spirit and expand your social network with younger and older students! Universities often attract big-named musicians that perform on campus! Varsity sports were a fantastic spirit event! Trivia nights at the campus pub were also a highlight throughout my experience!
