The Canadian Coast Guard College in Sydney, Nova Scotia, offers an educational experience like no other campus in the country: part of a student’s time is spent onboard a Canadian Coast Guard vessel at sea, and the other part is spent on campus. Located just minutes from major amenities, the college provides the perfect balance of work and play for its students.

The learning facilities at the College are customized to train future Marine Navigators and Marine Engineers with the Canadian Coast Guard Fleet. Our classrooms are equipped with the latest smart boards. Our library is the best-equipped nautical library in Canada. We have a planetarium that teaches you to successfully navigate by using only theory and the night sky. Our simulators prepare you to react to any situation that could arise in the engine room or on deck. The boatshed provides you with the opportunity to practice various seagoing activities.

Living on campus simulates life on board a Coast Guard vessel in many respects. The residence is divided into smaller units, or “clusters,” that consist of eight private rooms with a shared common area, kitchenette and bathroom. The cafeteria, or “galley,” provides nutritious, homemade meals three times a day made from fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. The Wellness Center supplies everything you need to achieve physical fitness. Two full-time staff members can help you to realize your goals using our 25-metre swimming pool, fully-equipped cardio room, weight room, squash court, and double gymnasium. Intramurals and other organized sports are popular on campus and everyone is welcome to participate.
