“At the University of Guelph-Humber all you have to do is say, ‘Yes, I want to be involved.’ I made that decision at Orientation. Since then, I have received support from an on-campus mentor; earned a job as a videographer for student recruitment (I get paid for my passion); and I’m still discovering all the awesome tools on campus, like the computer labs and media cage, that I can use to help hone my talents even further.” –Brandon Ferguson, Media Studies, 1st year

It’s easy to get involved at the University of Guelph-Humber, meet people and enjoy your time on campus. You’ll get to know classmates before university starts through our First Year Experience (FYE) program. You will be matched up with an upper-year student in your program who will facilitate an online group over the summer. Your FYE Leader will be there to help you through your first year of university.

Make your campus time count. All that society and club work, work-study and more can earn you some valuable credentials for your resume in the form of a Co-Curricular Record (CCR). Visit the CCR web page to get a snapshot of the many ways you can contribute and take part in campus life.

Take advantage of events organized by student government (GHSA) and the many student-run societies and clubs. In fall 2015, GHSA arranged an archery tag competition and a games night at a local restaurant; and Student Life partnered with students to go ‘Trick or Eating’ to collect food for those in need.

If sports are your thing, the Humber Hawks’ home games can keep you in the spirit! Or perhaps join an intramural or extramural team to play some volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, soccer, hockey and more.

All it takes is that first step… just ask Brandon!

See for yourself!
