Concordia students are socially aware, plugged into their community, and they know how to make things happen. That translates into an incredible wealth of clubs, from Cupcakes for a Cause to Space Concordia. People from more than 150 countries around the world come to Montreal to attend Concordia, and the campus’ diversity is reflected in an amazing variety of cultural and ethnic associations.

“I find there’s this sociable, friendly atmosphere to Concordia and people want you to be involved.” That was Holly Ryan’s experience when she moved to Montreal from North Bay, Ontario. Ryan lives in the newly-renovated Grey Nuns Residence, the historic former motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity, at the heart of downtown Montreal. Ryan says she felt at home right away. "Living in residence, the Residence Advisors were so open and friendly, making me feel like there’s always someone there for you. I loved that."

Other highlights of life at Concordia:

  • Working out at le Gym: "It's a perfect outlet for stress relief. I’m so motivated by the trainers and the other students."
  • Learning French: "Since I’ve been here, I took a French class over the summer and this fall I’m going to be taking the next level up."
  • The creative energy of the city: “I thought, this is where I need to be if I’m going to be doing art, a place that’s going to inspire me! Being in a city with such rich culture definitely amplifies anything that I have to bring to the table.”
