School is out and now is the time to gain work experience and establish connections that can help you along your future career path. There are many options available that allow students to gain valuable skills and experience. The University of Northern British Columbia is here to help students make the most of their summer break. Here are a few options to consider:

  • Co-op: UNBC offers a Co-operative education program that provides students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they’ve gained in the classroom to relevant work experience. Not only are these Co-op work terms paid, but they also offer a way for students to get experience and make valuable workforce connections that may help in finding employment after graduation.
  • Summer Employment: Need help applying for a summer job? The Student Career Centre is here to help! They offer resources to help with job searches, cover letter and resume writing, and interview preparation. They also list current job postings, so be sure to check the postings regularly for potential employment opportunities.
  • Volunteer: Experience doesn’t just come from paid employment. Volunteering is an excellent way to make connections and gain experience in a future career field. Volunteer Prince George is a registered non-profit charitable organization that will be your one-stop shop for everything volunteer-related in Prince George.

Remember, every experience counts. It may guide you to your future career or simply provide temporary employment. Either way, you gain valuable skills. So, make the most of your summer! Utilize the UNBC Career Centre, and be sure to check out Volunteer Prince George! And, if you have any questions along the way, please feel free contact us at unbc4u@unbc.ca – we would be happy to help!
