3 Easy Ways to Get Work Experience Before You Graduate

Save

If you’re looking ahead to life after your postsecondary education, chances are you’re a little worried about finding a job.

After all, you may be academically qualified – but what about that all-important “relevant work experience”?

One simple way to make sure you hit the ground running after you graduate is to choose a program that offers plenty of work-relevant experience while you’re still in school.

How can you tell? It’s easy.

  1. Look for a program that tailors its curriculum to the industry you want to work in. For example, Humber has program advisory committees made up of industry insiders who review what is being taught to make sure it’s up-to-date and relevant.
  2. Ask about partnerships and research. As a student, you could get an opportunity to work on research projects that connect what you’re learning in school with a real-life problem – providing you with valuable industry connections.
  3. Choose a program that offers an internship or work placement. There’s no better way to get work experience than to actually work. At Humber, many of our programs – including our 23 undergraduate degrees – incorporate an internship component, often paid. As a result, our students are often hired before they even graduate.
