It’s normal to feel a little overwhelmed by the thought of going to college or university, let alone applying for them! This process can be simplified as long as you stay organized and complete what is required of you. The first step in getting started would be to do some research and narrow down your options to your top three to five choices. Here are some suggested strategies to help you out:

Research the Programs - if you already have an idea of what you want to do, compare different programs and write down the top three things you like about each as well as anything you do not like. Make sure to look out for co-op opportunities, internships, pre-requisites, etc.

Research the Entry Requirements - at this stage it is important to be setting goals as to what grades you want to achieve coming out of high school. From there you can look into the entry requirements and determine whether or not you are on track or need to re-evaluate.

Visiting the Campus - This is important - you will have the opportunity to take a tour and learn about what the campus has to offer. It is a great way to speak to brand ambassadors and ask questions that can help you make the best decision possible.

Financial Options - although this should not be your deciding factor, it is something to be aware of. Postsecondary education is a great investment for your future so you want to make sure your choice it is the right one. Visit the websites of the colleges or universities you are interested in and learn more about their payment options, cost of tuition, meal plans, residence, etc.

This is a big decision that you don’t want to delay until the last minute. Doing your research and asking the right questions will help you narrow down your search and help you to find the perfect fit for your postsecondary education.
