Animation. Graphic Design. Illustration and Concept Art. Interior Decorating. Interior Design. What do these Algonquin College programs have in common? When you apply, they ask for a portfolio. All programs have requirements and pre-requisites of some kind. It’s important that you research your particular program to make certain there are no surprises.

Admission requirements vary between specific colleges and programs. In most cases, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required. Graduate Certificate programs may ask for a prior college or university certificate, diploma or degree for admission.

You’re responsible for ensuring that you meet academic requirements. The Algonquin College Registrar’s Office can inform you of any changes to the admission requirements that are not contained in recent publications or the Algonquin website.

Programs that are considered highly competitive have different requirements than non-competitive programs. Application and admission dates are obvious factors to keep in mind as you assemble your academic future.

If you’re an adult learner, consider Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). It’s a process that helps you to identify and demonstrate relevant learning acquired through life and work experiences and translate this learning into college credit.

It’s all about planning. Your journey to Algonquin College should be a smooth ride. Take a little time before the trip and get the answers you need.
