Choosing where to continue your education after graduating high school is a tough decision. (College or university? Local or abroad? Certificate or bachelor?) This is especially true when you have no idea what you want to study.

By the time you're in grade 11 and 12, you have to ask yourself, what do I want to do for the rest of my life? How am I supposed to get there? Do I want to go to school to eventually get a job as a lawyer? A journalist? A teacher? A doctor? Customer service rep? The options are endless, and, unfortunately, there's no easy solution.

The internet is a great place to begin your search if you aren't ready to ask specific questions just yet. There are online career quizzes out there that can help point you in the right direction and give you ideas of what you may want to study. Career quizzes will ask you a variety of questions to gauge your personality, skills and other attributes that relate to various career paths.

If you've already begun your search, career quizzes can help confirm the right path for you. Here are some career quizzes you can try!

1. SchoolFinder Career Quiz

This quiz is available only to those who have created a free account with SchoolFinder, but there are many features that make it worth it. The SchoolFinder quiz uses a yes-no-maybe-definitely frame which allows for a wide range of options. The questions go from broad to specific and deliver results as percentages of fields you are most likely to succeed in.

If you find yourself asking, "what should I study in college," or "what should I go to college for?" this quiz can help you make good decisions!

2. Open Colleges Career Quiz: Personality Test

Open Colleges uses the agree-disagree-strongly disagree-strongly agree quiz type. This quiz matches you to your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and lists your strengths and weaknesses based on this type. The reliability of the MBTI is debatable, but the quiz is fun.

3. Goshen College Quiz: What Should I Major In?

This quiz asks 26 yes-or-no questions that are primarily geared towards different career focuses. While the questions themselves are limited (as yes-or-no questions typically are), the quiz tracks your progress in a graph that you can look at while answering questions.

4. ThoughtCo College Major Quiz

ThoughtCo describes different scenarios and you have to choose your preference. This quiz offers the most variety in terms of questions, however, the 'types' are very broad and do not offer much insight.

Once you've figured out, or at least have a better understanding, of what career you want to go into, you can begin to look at programs.

College, university, and high school counsellors and advisers are your friends. They exist to help you with any issuse and concerns you may have around careers, programs and schools. Feel free to discuss with them the results of your career quizzes to better understand them, and what they might mean for your future!
