High school is packed with potential stressors - from finishing year-end projects to taking final exams. Seniors have the added pressure of applying to universities, preparing to be on their own for the first time, making decisions and navigating through unfamiliar situations.

While stress is inevitable, it doesn’t have to take over your life. Here are 3 tips to curb your stress levels:

Organize & Prioritize. The first step is as simple as making a to-do list or creating an events calendar with important due dates. This will help you to visualise the tasks ahead and offer relief as you check off each completed item.

Ask for Help. Sometimes, the cause for stress is rooted in the task itself. The best way to ease pressure from an impending project or to study for an exam is to get expert assistance. A tutor can help you prepare, revise and create a study routine that works for you.

Get Active. Exercise is a natural way to boost your mood, reduce anxiety and help you think more clearly. Pick activities that you genuinely enjoy, such as jogging, yoga, dancing or taking group classes at the gym. It will also help you to sleep better at night, and feel refreshed the next day – Making you ready to take on any challenges ahead.

At Middlesex University, student welfare is our #1 priority – and that includes ensuring that our students have the tools to combat stressful times. The on-campus Learning Enhancement Team offers individualised tutoring, students have access to free confidential Counselling and our state-of-the-art FitnessPod gym offers personal training services as well as massage therapy sessions for stressed out students.
