Nowadays, most employers rank work experience as a key factor when considering a potential employee’s job application. With today’s highly competitive job market, it’s crucial that students gain experience in their field as soon as possible. Here at Middlesex University London, skills development and work opportunities are embedded in all of our programmes and we offer a wide array of support tools to propel students to be job-ready from day one.

Here’s how:

MDXWorks. On-campus and on-line interactive employability support for students, created to realise their full professional and personal potential and prepare students for the world of work. This starts with CV, portfolio and cover letter preparation, 1:1 job interview guidance and practice, and monthly email updates about jobs relating to each student’s field of study.

Your Enterprise. The Enterprise Development Hub is a university wide initiative for students and alumni that want to become business start-up owners, freelance, or those who wish to be more entrepreneurial. The hub provides workshops, seminars, mentoring and events throughout the year – covering a wide range of topics including, innovation, business planning, the basics of business and networking. This is done with the collaborative support of academics, external practitioners and alumni volunteers. Additionally, Middlesex has launched a crowdfunding platform, allowing students to raise funds for a wide variety of projects from business ideas, fashion shows, film projects, student societies and sports clubs, and more.

MDXBusinessConnect. A Middlesex-exclusive networking platform for Business School students, which enables them to connect with graduates who are at varying stages of their careers and working in both a diverse range of industries and professional functions. It also allows students to find graduate mentors, search for job opportunities and work placements.
