Accordingly, our Education Abroad strategy prepares our graduates for an increasingly interconnected world and competitive global economy. We offer a wide range of exciting and challenging opportunities for students to expand their education, resulting in a world-class learning experience that will help them become cross-culturally competent and well-prepared for global citizenship. Our offerings include overseas exchanges, field schools, summer intensive programs, co-ops, internships, practica, graduate research and project work.

Students earn credit towards their diploma or degrees, gain international experience and develop intercultural skills that are highly valued among employers. Students who participate in Education Abroad report higher motivation for learning, stronger interpersonal and intercultural skills, a greater sense of global citizenship and more confidence in pursuing their career paths. VIU is about thinking and acting globally. We're able to fund students participating in study abroad activities thanks in part to the generous support of our external donors. Our Faculty of International Education boosts awareness of the benefits of Education Abroad opportunities for students and increases the number of domestic students who participate in international programs. We work collaboratively to develop new courses and programs that incorporate international education. And we're keen to foster global citizenship among all students, such as proficiency in multiple languages and cross-cultural awareness.
