The countdown is on to the January deadline to apply to university. Although the thought of your future may feel a little daunting, luckily there are many resources available, and a logical course of action to walk you through the process. This includes accessing your high school guidance counsellors to seek advice on all the opportunities available to you.

Hopefully you’ve done some online research of university websites, collected some brochures, have visited some of your top choices, and have attended a few open house events. Nothing informs your choice of university better than taking part in an on-site campus tour so that you experience the campus vibe first-hand.

Choosing your program of choice is exciting, too! Some of you have known what you want to pursue for a while, but it’s not unusual to be unsure about what program to take. We encourage you to keep your options open by taking a range of electives. This will allow you to explore your interests, discover your passions, and will be most helpful in determining a suitable program direction. You’ll find that the admissions chart in our student guide is a helpful reference that clearly outlines the required courses you’ll need to get into your program of choice. Remember to make time to meet with an Academic Advisor who will help you develop an educational plan that matches your life goals. Oh, and don’t worry if, once you’re here, you find you want to change your program. This happens sometimes, and the Office of the Registrar will be an excellent and friendly resource.

Additional good news is that the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre – the online site used when applying to any Ontario University – has simplified the process for all applicants. Keep in mind, the deadline to submit your application is January 11, 2017, and apply at www.ouac.on.ca.

Once you’ve applied to Nipissing, you will receive a package in the mail acknowledging the receipt of your application. These packages contain important info and dates. Typically, our offers of admission are made by the end of May.

Best of luck through your application process, hope to see you on campus!
