Whether you?re transitioning directly from an undergraduate program, or you?re returning to school after a lengthy hiatus, it?s important to take advantage of the opportunities available to grad students at TRU.

The year begins with grad orientation, then you?re encouraged to join the rest of the students for the Welcome Back BBQ. Get involved! The more events you participate in, the richer your TRU grad school experience will be. So cheer on the TRU WolfPack, join a club, and don?t forget to grab lunch in The Den, TRU?s on campus pub.

Graduate Student Commons
Recently redesigned, the Graduate Student Commons is a collaborative student engagement space. The Commons is open 24/7 via secure access, and is designed to allow quiet study space as well as act as an informal gathering place. Long tables and nearby whiteboards are ideal for small groups, and a meeting room holds up to eight students. The grad commons is ideal for presentations and thesis defenses.

Be a mentor
If you are a graduate student engaged in research, apply to be a Research Mentor. These fellowships are awarded to students who can commit to participating in a variety of projects related to the enhancement of student research.

Three-Minute Thesis (3MT)
Held at Thompson Rivers University each spring, the 3MT is an international competition that allows each graduate student three minutes to explain his or her body of work before a live audience.

Graduate Student Research Symposium
In March, graduate students are encouraged to participate in the symposium, organized by graduate students with the goal of encouraging research and creating opportunities for networking.
