When you choose University Canada West (UCW) not only are you making the decision to live in one of the world’s best cities, you’re also choosing to study in a prominent business district. Because UCW is located in the heart of Vancouver, students have the opportunity to showcase their ambitions and talent to local employers and businesses regularly. Brushing shoulders with established professionals or scheduling an informational interview with an industry icon becomes increasingly convenient when you’re a part of the action.

To better support students in their journey through education into the professional world UCW hosts Career Talks which is a series of speakers who present on topics related to finding employment. UCW faculty member Tanya Pattullo recently gave a presentation titled, Employment Strategies: An Insider Perspective, that provided students with insights on what companies look for when hiring and how candidates can stand out from other applicants.

“The search for employment can be an overwhelming, exhausting, and frustrating process,” explained Ms. Pattullo. “It is important for students to know that searching for employment requires strategies and focus to be successful. My hope is that students will have some of the tools they need to help them be more successful in their search for employment.”

UCW is a business-oriented, teaching-intensive University that equips students with the applied and theoretical basis for success in the workplace and in their future academic endeavours. Faculty members are experienced industry professionals who integrate their experiences into course material to help students build their knowledge of Canadian culture, business etiquette and customs.

UCW offers Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication, MBA, MBA Foundation and University Access Courses. These programs are delivered from the University’s downtown Vancouver campus and are also available online. For more information visit www.ucanwest.ca.
