Sometimes it’s an easy question, answered without a second thought. Sometimes it’s a question that makes your palms sweat and your eyes dart about in search of an escape route. Either way, we have resources and help for you at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC)!

Your best first stop is the UNBC Career Centre, where you can:

  • Learn how to write a resume and cover letter
  • Learn how to prepare for an interview
  • Become familiar with job search strategies
  • Learn what you can do with your degree

The Career Centre at UNBC also provides a great list of job postings in Prince George and surrounding region specifically seeking student employees. Along with that, the career centre organizes two Career Fairs, one in each semester, which draw dozens of local employers who are keen to meet with current and prospective students and alumni to chat about employment opportunities within their companies.

There are also many on-campus job opportunities available for current students, from work in the UNBC Bookstore, library, coffee shops and pub on campus, to research and instructor assistance opportunities. Not only are the latter jobs paid, they will also give you a great chance to “test drive” your degree by working within your field and program of interest as well as invaluable references for your career or further studies.

If you’re interested in opportunities during or after your studies at UNBC, whether part-time or full-time jobs, volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved with the community, internships, practicums, or co-operative education, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us at unbc4u@unbc.ca!
