At St. Mary’s University, we are always looking for new ways to connect our students with real world opportunities. Our liberal arts and sciences university prepares students with a breadth of knowledge in several disciplines. While this gives students a variety of opportunities in the job market, the current economic environment, particularly in Alberta, is challenging. Networking and face-to-face connections have become an especially important part of career exploration. As students progress toward graduation in their respective programs, they are expressing increasing interest in developing their professional network.

In response to the growing need for networking opportunities St. Mary’s University, in partnership with Calgary Economic Development, will be hosting an Alumni Networking event in February, 2016. The event will include a Keynote speaker who will introduce and promote the Connector Program, which links recent graduates with industry leaders and aids job seekers in building a professional network. The Keynote Speaker will also explore the impact that networking can have as graduates seek out job opportunities. St. Mary’s is among many other post-secondary institutions in Calgary who have partnered with Calgary Economic Development in their effort to create networking opportunities for recent graduates and young professionals. St. Mary’s believes that our responsibility to our students goes beyond graduation day, and we strive to support our alumni as they pursue goals.

Upcoming St. Mary’s graduates will also benefit from this event, as they will have the opportunity to connect with alumni and discuss career and employment strategies. This event is an important initiative in developing St. Mary’s emerging Alumni program and promoting ways in which our university can prepare students to pursue fulfilling careers.
