It’s always a challenge to be at a new place with new people all around you. When I first came to Leeds Beckett, I was like a turtle hiding in its shell – very afraid to go out and take my chances. Eventually, I had the chance to meet a representative of the International Student Society who introduced me to various social media platforms to keep up with the school.

I chose Leeds Beckett because of its diversity of the student population as well as the student support that they offer throughout my process from the beginning to the end. The more I researched about the school before making my final decision, the more I got interested about their student-centred services. They have a Job Shop for students to work flexibly around their course schedule and a Career Service that advises students about being employed after graduation. These are the two highlights that made me feel that Leeds Beckett would not only provide me with an academic qualification but also practical skills with balancing work and study time.

Now, another very important aspect of a student life – the social life. Don’t worry that you will not find anywhere to fit in at Leeds Beckett. There are loads of clubs and societies for you to join as well as sports facilities that will keep you occupied.

Lastly, just make sure that ‘you’ push yourself to go out there and make things happen. Go out, meet people and take the chances that I really wished I took earlier. This is my personal experience with Leeds Beckett, maybe you will also have yours.
