It’s August. You start school in less than a month. The idea of college makes you nervous and thinking about “academic success” makes you dizzy.

Not to worry! Seneca has you covered so you can succeed for the entire school year, from start to finish:

READY… SET… SUCCESS!
Seneca’s Counselling and Accessibility Services offers a free two-day interactive workshop series for students with disabilities. At Ready…Set…Success, students will learn about self-advocacy, stress reduction and school-life balance before even beginning classes. Assistive technologists, counselors and learning strategists are also available to help students get the most out of their Seneca experience.

"Student life, transitions and achieving academic success: these are full of stresses and rewards,” says Terry Mcquaid, Director, Counselling and Accessibility Services. “There's a number of services and supports available to students at the College to help you manage these issues and reach your academic goals."

THE LEARNING CENTRE
The Learning Centre is Seneca’s one-stop-shop for workshops, one-on-one tutoring and group tutoring. Students are tutored by their peers – students who have taken the courses, done the work, written the exams, and put in the commitment to succeed.

SMILE MENTORSHIP
Students who receive mentoring support from their peers are more likely to adapt well to college life, succeed academically, and persist until graduation. SMILE protégés can get the answers they need from mentors who have been in their shoes, while SMILE mentors can share inside knowledge and best practices – ensuring success for all.

EXPERIENCE SENECA
Last, but certainly not least, is Seneca’s orientation. Unlike other institutions that cover orientation for only a few days, Seneca has two full weeks of activities and academic events. Before the first day of classes, students get the chance to meet with their peers, talk to professors, and learn all about their program. While students are settling into their first two weeks of classes, there will be games, workshops, information sessions, free food and much more – stay tuned!
