From Plan B to Z and Everything in Between

When life gives you lemons, don’t just make lemonade. Why limit yourself? Lemon meringue pie, lemon loaf, lemon-baked salmon; the options are endless, just like your options for postsecondary education.

So you’ve received that dreaded “After careful review, we regret to inform you…” letter – don’t fret! When plan A doesn’t work out, remember there are 25 other letters in the alphabet and hundreds of other options for you to choose from.

Apply, reapply, or apply to something different. If plan A is your life-long dream, you owe it to yourself to apply again. There may also be other avenues to get you to that dream. If not, follow these tips for when you need to move on from plan A:

B: Breathe
Although rejection will always be a difficult pill to swallow, know that it isn’t the end of the world. Relax and don’t be too hard on yourself, there will be many more opportunities to come.

C: Collect
Collect your thoughts and truly think about your strengths and interests. Perhaps something about working in business has always thrilled you. Why not consider one of Seneca’s business programs?

Maybe you've always wanted to study science at university, but you didn't get in. Why not apply to Seneca's new Arts and Science program that will allow you to earn both a college diploma and a science degree from the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) in as little as four years?

Think about what you want, there will likely be a program for it at Seneca and many of them are still accepting applications for September.

D: Decide
Animation, Communication, Business Administration, Hospitality Foundations; there are so many programs to choose from.

Pick a program that interests you, challenges you, intrigues you, and excites you. Do some soul searching by yourself, with a friend or with a member of Seneca's Student Recruitment Team.
