Fill your time with more than the obligations listed on your course outlines.

Like most students, your studies will be the priority and that’s good. It is reasonable to expect that for each hour of class, you will devote at least double the time on some form of coursework outside of classroom hour’s ― whether reading, writing or studying.

Perhaps of more interest is feedback from our students who consistently noted that the level of satisfaction with their overall university experience significantly increased the more involved they became in campus life and community activities. True: getting involved in campus life, pursuing extra-curricular interests or volunteering your time expands your education and actually makes you feel more at home while ensuring a greater sense of achievement.

Consider every opportunity. They are easy to find. Our students are automatic members of the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU), which facilitates a full schedule of inclusive activities and events in which to participate.

Whether you are a gym enthusiast, a weekend warrior or a sports fan, check out our fitness facilities and intramural and varsity sports available to you through our athletics department.

Take a look around the community too. You will find lots to do at either the North Bay or the Muskoka campus, whether you are a foodie, an arts lover, or an explorer of the great outdoors.

If you enjoy volunteer work, donate your time and skills on campus, in the local community or globally.

If you want to further cultivate your global citizenship by studying abroad and internationalizing your degree, visit our International Services office to investigate all your options.

Your life at University involves so much more than classes and studies. Use the time to decide what shape your life will take and definitely tap into the support systems we have in place to help you reach your goals.
