Tyndale offers many internship programs that will allow students to work locally and abroad. Sarah Rennick is one of Tyndale’s fourth year Business Administration – International Development students. This past September, Sarah travelled to Chisinau, Moldova, where she is currently interning with Beginning of Life, an organization that works toward the prevention of human trafficking and rehabilitates women who have experienced sexual exploitation. Sarah spends most of her time working in the Urban Youth Centre, the House of Change (a rehab centre for victims of sexual exploitation) and at the Psychological Art Studio.

Sarah spoke about what it’s like to live in Chisinau: “It’s such a great city. Moldova is formerly part of the Soviet Union and the poorest European country. There is this clash of cultures between the Western European way of life, which is very focused on material and visible wealth and status, and debilitating poverty, which is a result of the economic crash when the Soviet Union dissolved. The city is so different from the villages; in the villages you really see the poverty. It gets so cold in the winter time and many elderly people can’t even afford wood so they freeze to death. It’s terrible to think that even a basic necessity like heat is unavailable.” Sarah’s internship has provided her with a unique perspective on how her university degree from Tyndale is impacting the lives of others around the world.
