If you would love to see the world but are also committed to finishing your studies, the student exchange program can help you do both!

Life-changing, amazing experience…these are just a few words University of Manitoba students have used to describe their time while on an international exchange. Taking the opportunity to study and travel abroad while in university is more than just an adventure; it will completely change your learning experience. Rather than just books and classes, your education on an exchange will come from living in another country and gaining international experience.

"Studying in Australia was the best experience of my life. The places I traveled, people I met, and things I saw have changed me for the better, in ways I can’t describe.”
Stacey: Deakin University, Australia

There are many, many questions that come to mind when preparing to live in another country for any length of time.

Plan Ahead.
It’s never too early to start preparing for overseas travel. It can take several months, even up to a year, depending on where you are going and what kind of experience you are planning, to complete all the necessary requirements for overseas travel. If you plan ahead, you will have plenty of time to complete tasks early and avoid the stress of needing to do everything at once.

Ask Plenty of Questions.
Talk to people who have traveled abroad before and ask them what they did to prepare for their trip. Ask questions of your program coordinator, service provider and overseas institution or employer.

Financing and Student Loans.
Depending what you will be doing overseas, your length of stay, and your own personal qualifications, you may be eligible to receive funding towards your experience abroad.
