Choosing the right school and program is not easy and there’s a lot of choice around so what can help you make best choice for you?

Quality of the Course.

Most students look at rankings and stop there but numbers are not always a true reflection of what the course involves. So what else can you look at?

  1. Accreditation – is the course approved by a professional body, will it give you a membership or exemptions or maybe it is linked to further professional qualifications? This is usually a good indication of the highest standard of courses if a professional body exists in your field of interest. Many of our courses at Leeds Beckett are accredited.
  2. Work experience – does the course provide any work related learning, practical elements, internships, networking or mentoring opportunities? Does the school have good industry contacts? See how Leeds Beckett can enhance your employability.
  3. Extra opportunities – can you do a student exchange program or local or international volunteering, can you do a work placement abroad as part of your course?
  4. Facilities – does the course provide modern equipment and who is allowed to use it? At Leeds Beckett all students from undergraduate level have access to modern cutting edge facilities from Mac Labs to mock court room to music studios to £1 clinical suite and more. Remember working on the latest equipment is what you want.

Location. Location. Location.

The city counts! Do you want a big multicultural vibrant environment or prefer a small student city? Leeds is the 2nd biggest business district in the UK after London and one of the most popular student cities in the UK. You will not be bored, there is plenty of student jobs and graduate job prospects and you can make friends from all over the world!
