For standard colleges and universities, now is the time to prepare for the fall influx of new and returning students. At Centre for Arts and Technology in Kelowna, learning is a year round mandate. With programs starting in January, April, July and October, there is a timeline to accommodate you! We pride ourselves on learner-centric education, with the focus on small classes and strong instructor-student relationships.

In the months and weeks prior to each quarter start our Student Services department is busy preparing to greet our incoming student body. Each quarter start features an orientation kickoff where you will meet your department head, instructors and take a campus tour! Orientation requires a substantial of planning and preparation, all worthwhile when we see all the eager new faces!

Being a successful student also requires a significant amount of effort and dedication, but with a little planning, is manageable by anyone! When you receive your first schedule, it is suggested that you also schedule in study and homework time into your own day planner. This may seem like an obvious tip, but having a solid study/life plan and sticking to it can make ALL the difference in succeeding in post-secondary education.

Last tip to ensuring success at a new school: ensure you have a network in place for assistance when needed. Instructors are obviously your first point of contact, but failing that, it is wise to have a web of fellow students you can rely on. One quick way to network with your fellow students is join in on the fun of social media! Our Centre for Arts and Technology – Students page is a dedicated Facebook page just for CAT students; use it to share questions and assignments you need help with or share your latest A+ assignment!

See you in class!
