If this is your last year of high school, then you are probably good at going back to school. But what do university students do before they start for the first time?

On our campuses in Switzerland and Glion London, we coordinate arrivals for nearly 1000 students coming from 90+ countries every semester. Here are our most frequently discussed topics.

Student Life

Moving into a new country or new campus can be intimidating, so we coordinate Student Life Webinars with Q&A sessions hosted by current students to help future students prepare.

Tip: Get familiar with the campus before you arrive. If you can’t visit, then see if your university has a virtual tour that shows you around the campus facilities.

What to Wear

At Glion, our students follow a Business Dress code to prepare them for international careers in top companies. So our dress code tells students what to wear during class hours, but there are other occasions to consider. For example, our students host a Cultural Fair every semester and they often bring some traditional clothing or decorations.

Tip: Pack to be prepared for any occasion (sports day or company recruitment visit), but bring only as much luggage as you can easily manage to pull, lift and carry alone.

Making Friends

Among hundreds of freshmen, it’s easy to feel lost in the crowd. We host a Glion Facebook group where new students can ask questions, meet classmates, and even look for a suitable roommate.

Tip: Don’t wait till you arrive to start making friends. Join social media groups and get involved online.

If you are looking for a university where you will have a truly unique experience, Glion has course vacancies in October 2014 and January 2015. Contact us to learn more.
