ASU – A Top University for International Students

Arizona State University attracts students from all over the world, offering an excellent academic experience in a culturally diverse and global community.

Ranked No. 11 in the nation for international choice, ASU has more than 6,400 international students choosing to earn their degrees at the university. This number has increased almost 30 percent in the last year.

Students travel to study at ASU from more than 150 countries, including China, India and Saudi Arabia. As ASU president Michael Crow said, “Our faculty and staff reflect the intellectual, ethnic and cultural diversity of our nation and world so that our students learn from the broadest perspective.”

Over the years, ASU has grown into an academic powerhouse, educating students in more than 700 undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates. At ASU, professors are Nobel Prize winners, MacArthur and Guggenheim fellows, and experts and leaders in their disciplines.

Starting as early as freshman year, ASU students are encouraged to take advantage of personalized opportunities that enhance classroom learning, such as researching alongside a professor, starting a business in college, studying in state-of-the-art classrooms and labs and completing internships to gain valuable professional experience.

“I had no doubt that I wanted to come to ASU,” said Mariana De Lacerda, who came to ASU from Brazil. “I saw that the School of Sustainability was the first of its kind. They have so many programs and it is amazing.”

Within the last year alone, ASU climbed higher among the top producers of students who win prestigious Fulbright awards to study and teach abroad. The university now ranks third in the nation for research institutions, tied with Princeton and Rutgers.

The university reaches across borders to bring ASU to students abroad through recruitment fairs, programs that allow students to take classes in their countries and transfer seamlessly to ASU, and partnerships throughout the world that ensure ASU meets the needs of a global community.
