Ever heard the phrase “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”? Well, university admissions are one area where this famous idiom applies. Here are a few tips for making a back-up plan that is not just bearable, it could be better than you ever dreamed.

Broaden your search

A recent study from the Canadian Bureau of International Education indicated that “91 percent of employers say they value job candidates with international experience because it develops cross-cultural understanding. And 50 percent said they would hire a candidate with study abroad experience over one without — all else being equal.”

Are you ready to think about a global education? At Glion, you could study in Switzerland and travel around the world on internships before you even graduate.

Find a short program

A summer program can keep you in the academic groove and still leave you some time to travel, or take a summer job or internship. This summer, the Glion London Summer Academy is offering a two-week introduction courses to hospitality management with excursions around London, industry courses and an event planning project.

Reconsider your priorities

Glion is the first choice of many students because it is a career-maker. At graduation, 85% of our graduates have a job or multiple offers. Could you see yourself working in one of these fields?

  • Hospitality: Hotel, Restaurant, Spa or Facilities Management
  • Sustainable Tourism Development
  • Event Management
  • Sport and Entertainment Management
  • Revenue and Finance
  • Marketing and Communications

If so, then you could be headed to Switzerland only a few months from now. Get in touch with the Regional Admissions Director, Sarah Humphrey to find out if there are places left for summer 2014.
