Last year alone, Lakehead University awarded $9.4 million to students in scholarships and bursaries. That’s a large sum for a small university. So now you know the money is there…but how do you access it? You don’t necessarily need to be the top of the class to fund your education. Here are Lakehead’s main scholarships and bursaries in a nutshell, with links to the online applications. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Automatically-Awarded Entrance Scholarships
These are awarded automatically to Canadian applicants coming directly from high school and are based on averages beginning at 75%. If you have 95%+ average, you could be awarded FREE tuition! You don’t need to apply to these. Check out our entrance scholarships chart.

Entrance Bursaries
Value: up to $2,300
The entrance bursary for Canadian high school applicants is based on financial need and partly on the distance from your hometown to the campus of your choice. Apply online.

Transfer Award
Value: $500-$1,000
Based on academic achievement. For Canadian applicants transferring from college or another university. Apply online.

Transfer and Mature Student Bursary
Based on financial need. For Canadian applicants transferring from college or another university. Apply online.

Presidential Scholarships
Value: $30,000 ($7,500/year for 4 years)
For Canadian high school applicants who have achieved a minimum 90% average and have demonstrated leadership qualities and made significant contributions to their high school and their community. Apply online.

Lakehead University Specialist High Skills Major Award
Value: $500 Award
Eligible for high school graduates from SHSMs in Environment, Health and Wellness, or Mining. Apply online.

Lakehead University Alumni Association Entrance Award
Value: $6,000 ($1,500 x 4 years)
For immediate family members of a Lakehead University Alumnus. Apply online.

Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario & Simcoe County Citizenship Scholarships
Value: $12,000 ($3,000 x 4 years)
Awarded by nomination by each of the schools in Northwestern Ontario and Simcoe County for students modeling good citizenship within their high school and community. Click here for more information.

Lakehead University Entrance Athletic Scholarships for Varsity Athletes
Value: up to $4,000
For students who are in good academic standing, who meet CIS and OUA eligibility criteria,
