With 92.9% graduate employability rate Leeds Metropolitan University focuses on enhancing your employability skills. Alongside career fairs, exchanges, internships, competitions etc., we offer amazing volunteering opportunities… do something worthwhile and enhance your CV at the same time! At Leeds Met, we can aid you in finding the perfect opportunity through a recommended list of local opportunities which we advertise for students to get involved in. We also offer an International volunteering programme where we send students and staff to approximately 15 destinations worldwide.

Why volunteer? Because volunteering enhances your personal and professional development, is a great way to gain experience and feel like you're doing something worthwhile whilst helping you gain valuable employability skills. Make a difference to the world and to your CV! Whether it's fundraising for a children's ward, accountancy for a small local charity, coaching in an after school sports club, organising a tea party for isolated older people or working at a children's home in South Africa or India - we can help you make a difference.

Within our volunteering team we run an International Social Network, this network is for International students to get involved in the great social clubs, societies and trips offered at Leeds Metropolitan University, there is also an opportunity within this network for students to volunteer as an International Mentor to help the new International Students settle into life in Leeds and the UK.

Leeds Metropolitan University is committed to the employability agenda for its students from helping you build an interesting CV through extracurricular activities in the Student Union and Sport Clubs, study abroad, stock market simulations, internships, career mentoring, networking opportunities through to career planning and business start-up services.

Just to give a few examples, our employability service helps you make decisions on your career and to recognise and develop your employability skills including writing your CV and preparing for interviews. Our Job Shop is one of the largest student employment agencies in the country providing 160,000 hours of paid work per year. We offer at least 2 weeks work centred learning per year embedded in every undergraduate course.
