World-class education at an affordable price

According to a 2013 National Centre for Public Policy and Higher Education report, there is increasing public concern about the affordability of a college education. Many are concerned that the rising costs of higher education will soon make it inaccessible to the average person.

The view at SHU, is that high quality can also be affordable. SHU aims to provide a world-class, quality education, using state-of-the-art learning facilities and teaching methods that utilize the latest in modern technology, all at an affordable cost.

Students at SHU enjoy significant advantages in learning, through a well-integrated technology platform. Our laboratories include a cutting-edge simulation centre that provides integrative clinical skills and simulation training; an anatomy lab with plastinated anatomy and pathology specimens; and a skills lab outfitted with all tools necessary for standardized patient encounters. Our curriculum is innovative: reflecting the ever-changing dynamics of the medical field; modern: with methods that reflect current and emerging trends; and integrative, where students learn from a cadre of internationally-educated instructors who are the very best in their fields.

In addition, tuition rates are low. Students pay one flat rate at an average yearly cost of US$22,800, compared to the average global cost of about US$50,000. SHU’s tuition includes all study material and textbooks, lab and technology fees and transportation to and from campus. In comparison, a 2013 Association of American Medical Colleges report listed median tuition at private institutions at US$47,673. With fees and insurance, the cost goes up to US$51,000.
