Numerous opportunities to get involved in student life on campus

Make your time on campus count. While academics are important, education is more than just studying.

Fleming College offers a variety of ways students can get involved in campus life outside of the classroom.

Whether you have an interest the environment and sustainability or play soccer and volleyball, extracurricular clubs and activities allow students to get active, get immersed in campus life, and meet students outside of your program.

Many of these activities provide important life skills such as team work, communication and organization, which are valuable additions to your resumé.

One great way to build those skills at Fleming College is through the Emerging Student Leaders Series. Interested students from all programs have the opportunity to take three three-hour weekly sessions to develop team and leadership skills. Students receive certificates of completion and the Series is an excellent way to enhance a portfolio.

Athletics is another aspect of Student Life, and not every student has to be a varsity athlete to be part of the team. There are intramural and extramural leagues in a variety of sports that students can join, in addition to varsity-level athletics.

Living in Residence? Make sure you check out the Residence Life activities. Often there are social events and planned outings coordinated by Residence staff to ensure students make the most of their time on campus.

Fleming’s Diversity Office supports clubs and councils on campus as well. Examples of these include the Fleming Association of Queer Students (FAQS) and Fleming African Canadian Students (FACTOR).

There is guaranteed to be a club, committee or group that suits your interests. And if not, start your own! As a student, don’t be afraid to step up and join in. You will be glad you did!
