At the University of New Brunswick, we make applying to university simple through our online Admission Requirements tool. It’s easy to use, fast, and it only gives you the information you need to know. All you need to do is answer a few questions and we’ll tell you exactly what courses and grades you need to get into your preferred program. Check it out for yourself!

And we have an entire client service team (yes, real people answer our phones) to answer any questions you may have. Our number is 1-888-895-3344 and our email address is chooseunb@unb.ca.

In general:

Every university requires that you complete your Grade 12 English with a minimum grade percentage. You are also required to complete four other Grade 12 courses (which courses depend on what program you’re applying to). The average of those courses and the Grade 12 English course must meet a minimum average. The number of courses and averages may differ slightly from school to school, but this is basically how it works.

At UNB, our general admission requirements differ somewhat from other universities because we look at 6 courses to admit you instead of 5. The reason for this is because for the 6th course, we choose whatever your highest graded elective is (as long as it’s one of our approved electives). Let’s say you got 98% in History class in grade 12 - that elective helps to raise your admission average, which could get you a higher scholarship.

It is important to note what courses and averages you need to get into your program of choice. Just visit the school website and look for “Admissions” or “Admission Requirements”. Sometimes, you may have to go to the “Future Students” section of the website to find them.
