Grenfell Campus’ fine arts graduates have exhibited their art in galleries around the world, and acted on and designed international stages. Accomplishments in their fields began with a successful entrance application.

Acceptance into Grenfell’s bachelor of fine arts programs is limited and very competitive. You must demonstrate not only a commitment to your art but an academic standing that shows potential for academic success in at Grenfell Campus.

For entry into the theatre program, acting stream, you must audition two contrasting pieces (one classical, one contemporary). For entry into the stagecraft program, you must bring an example of your work, including costume sketches, a model set, a stage manager’s prompt script or anything else that demonstrates your knowledge of stagecraft.

If you wish to pursue visual arts you should submit a selection of samples of your work. Your portfolio should be collection of diverse mediums which are new and relevant to your current position as an artist avoiding too much copy or un-original work. The range and quality of work is the best indicator of your ongoing commitment to art making. We suggest you send a minimum of ten pieces, but you are encouraged to send as many as you feel suitable. Be sure to include artworks created from the observation of actual objects, places and people, as well as pieces that explore an idea or point of view.

Deadline for applications for the fall semester is March 1, winter semester is Oct. 1 and spring semester is Feb. 1. If you’d like to learn more about preparing a successful application to any of Grenfell’s programs, contact us at study@grenfell.mun.ca.
