Learn to Teach: Searching for a Bachelor of Education Program in Calgary

Do you want to learn to teach? Are you searching for the right Bachelor of education program to suite your needs?

If you would like to become a teacher that is prepared to teach in both the public and Catholic school systems, then discover what St. Mary’s University College in Calgary has to offer. Our two year Bachelor of Education (Elementary) after degree program is Canada’s only program designed to prepare teachers for Catholic and public schools.

Students graduate from this two-year program fully-qualified and prepared to teach in any elementary school: Catholic, public, private, faith-based or secular. However, the program is particularly focused on preparing teachers to teach in Catholic schools in Alberta and beyond.

Instruction is delivered by a combination of core education faculty members and experienced field practitioners who have attained advanced academic training in the field of educational studies combined with extensive experience as teachers in Canadian schools.

Students entering this program will have:

• Completed a St. Mary's University College Bachelor of Arts degree or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree from another university that has an equally strong liberal arts component with a minimum GPA of 2.7 and,
• Completed a comprehensive liberal arts core that includes courses in humanities, social sciences, human kinetics, natural sciences and mathematics, and mandatory courses in history, English, theology, ethics, interdisciplinary studies and computer science.
