You've got a friend in us

We’ve all had those days when our homework and studying to-do list seems endless, and just like those overwhelming days when you need a friend, you have a study friend in Thompson Rivers University.  You’ve heard it over, and over again: once the first few weeks of a new university year are over, the reading starts to pile up so you must stay on-top of it.  That may be true, but it takes a campus to educate a student.

Everyone can benefit from a little feedback, and when it comes to writing those essays and reports, having an audience can be useful not only for English Majors but all writers at all levels. TRU’s Writing Centre provides feedback on your writing, helps you with generating ideas, sentence structure, organizing your thoughts, grammar, editing and everything in between!

TRU also has a Math Help Centre staffed by faculty and upper-level students, to help you work through those never-ending calculations.  Or, if economics is more your forte, the Economics Help Centre is always open for independent or group study supported by Economic professors.

Supplemental Learning (SL) is also very popular at TRU, because it’s students leading students and peers studying with peers.  SL is organized study sessions led by an upper-level student who was previously successful in the individual courses, which range from Business and Economics, to Science and Mathematics, and History.

If you’re looking for something that is more one-on-one, the TRU Counselling Department provides customized sessions to help with speech and text anxiety, study stills, and time and stress management.  All of these services are free to TRU students, and open to support you throughout the year.

Whether you’re in first or fourth year, university is an amazing experience both academically and personally.  And when you need that extra little support, always remember that you have a study friend in us.  If university is still a year away, TRU begins accepting applications October 1, 2013 for all programs.  For more information on what TRU has to offer or to request a campus tour, visit our home page at www.tru.ca or connect with a Student Recruiter at 250-828-5006 or recruitment@tru.ca
