Back to School: Algoma University’s Survival Tips

1. Register for classes early. By selecting courses early, students have a better chance of getting into courses that interest them, and avoid last minute lines. You also avoid paying late fees. If you have any questions about registering, you can always contact the Registrar’s Office directly at regoffice@algomau.ca. Online course registration can be completed here.
2. Get your student card. Once students have registered and enrolled in classes, they can request their student cards. Student cards can be requested at www.myalgomau.ca. Student cards give you access to computer labs around campus, operate as a library card to the Wishart A. Library, can be used for meal plans, and can be validated for parking. Student cards can also be obtained from the ITS Helpdesk in room NW202.
3. Register for Frosh Week. This year’s Frosh Week theme is Trail Blazers: The Possibilities are Endless, and runs from Tuesday, September 3 until Saturday, September 7, 2013. By registering for Frosh Week students gain access to a variety of fun activities, including the annual Tricycle and Bed Races, Minute It to Win It challenges, Comedy Night, and the fan-favourite performance of Single and Sexy. Frosh Week allows you to meet new friends, get acquainted with the university and Sault Ste. Marie, and sit-in on helpful sessions on health and wellness and academic advising.
