If you’re reading this, you’re likely in your final year of high school. University is just around the corner and it’s a good idea to prepare for it as much as possible.

This year may be a balancing act – enjoying your last year of high school by getting involved, having fun with friends, making sure you do well in your courses, and starting to think about university.

Starting in late September, you can attend university information sessions, book a campus tour or come to an open house to see which university is the right fit for you. If you can’t make it to campus, check out the virtual campus tour. Most universities have one.

Back to school at Waterloo means a week of Orientation before classes begin. This provides first-year students a great opportunity to get introduced to the campus, residence, students in their program, and all social aspects of university life.

However, there is more than just the social aspect of university. There’s also the academic aspect, which can be quite stressful and overwhelming. Luckily, Waterloo has a Student Success Office, which provides students with the support they need. They guide students to success by providing workshops on study, research and writing skills, budgeting, stress management and more.

Have a great school year!
